Our deliciously scented hand poured soy candles are made in Utrecht with great care for the craft. With that care also comes care for creating a plant-based and renewable product! The style of our Apothecary candles is inspired by the vintage apothecary of the 19th century combined with a bit of modern time. Our Wood Collection is for the minimalist and those who seek a luxury candle. All collection have their own story! Whether you live in a sleek design house or you have a romantic bohemian wedding, these candles fit with all!

Giselle Habraken started Brandt kaarsen in March 2015 after learning the craft in one of the most inspiring candle studios of New York City. Brandt means “It burns” in Dutch and kaarsen translates to candles.

She fell in love with the craft and with great encouragement of her candle master she started her own label. The process is simple and always in small batches. From preparing the candle to the pouring of the soy wax, everything happens manually and with utmost care. Brandt kaarsen emit a warm, cosy atmosphere that beats any cold winter day, fits on every dinner table in the Summer and fills your room with a nature inspired scent.

Our scented candles are lovingly handmade in Utrecht from soy wax and rapeseed wax. Yes, we really make them by hand, from design to candle. Our scents are subtle and soft and therefore suitable for every candle lover! Our 5 collections have a style that balances between minimalist and elegant.

What do you do to support or promote each of the causes you have identified?: Sustainability, Accessibility and Craftsmanship are Brandt’s values. We take great care to make each and every candle as sustainable and naturally as possible in terms of ingredients. But we feel you can look at sustainability in more than one way. For example: soy wax burns 30-40% longer than paraffin candles. This is more sustainable in time. Because you can see and feel the craftsmanship and passion in our candles, we hope you will burn them consciously and refill them once they’ve burned up. Which is more sustainable in usage. We also make sustainable choices in terms of packaging. For example: we use ethically produced eco-cotton pouches for our Wood Collection candles, soluble potato-starch flakes to protect the candles during the shipping process and recycled cardboard for our gift boxes. We call this sustainable in details.
