What was the motivation behind your project? What did you want to change in the world?

Bringing fungi back into the mainstream and helping people to empower their health. My whole frame of reference is vegan so that was always a given. I discovered the amazing benefits of functional mushrooms, saw how much they could help benefit our stressful lives and knew I wanted to find a way to integrate them into our everyday ceremony.

Who is the team behind your project?

I founded the business on my own, working with a brewing consultant to develop the beer – then our contract brewers to make the liquid. I am very much looking forward to growing the team!

What one thing about your project would most surprise us or is not known outside of your team?

My branding started as a tattoo on my arm, designed by the awesome @fmdtattoos My love and fascination for fungi let me to create Fungtn!

If your project could be granted one wish, what would you wish for?

£500k investment! We are currently (September 2021) in our seed round and looking to grow the business. Bringing on board some smart money to help achieve our goals is key.

Is there anything else that you would like to share with us about your project?

We have just won a UK Bronze in the World Beer Awards in the IPA category not the ‘alcohol-free’ category. This is a great testament to ABV really becoming just another ingredient to dial up/down and not the making of great beer. We also want to shout out the amazing Lion’s Mane mushroom for adding depth of flavour and the interesting umami profile that makes this award-winning beer!
