What was the motivation behind your project? What did you want to change in the world?
We believe that all skincare products must work alongside and enhance the skin's own ecosystem. Too often skincare products aggressively target a skin condition or promise a result at the expense of the skin's natural regenerative processes. We only use gentle yet effective ingredients that harness and boost skin barrier function and reproductive systems to allow a long term sustainable skin glow.
Who is the team behind your project?
We are a husband and wife team.
Nicolene who was born and raised in Namibia has been the source of knowledge about traditional African herbal remedies that form the basis of our skincare formulations.
"African botanicals are an untapped treasure trove of skincare and health benefits in general. Nature provided us with all of these natural remedies which we often ignore for man-made overhyped medicines. These natural remedies are even more abundant in my home country Namibia"
Thomas is our formulator and the basis for our gentle yet effective ethos.
"Creating a new skincare line can be compared to a work of art: we carefully uncover and combine all the right ingredients in order to compose the uniquely appealing effect of every product we create."
What one thing about your project would most surprise us?
We design, develop, and create all of our skincare products ourselves by hand in small batches. We even create our own botanical extracts using our own proprietary extraction technique.
If your project could be granted one wish, what would you wish for?
A wider embrace of planet positive skincare practices. For example, if there was a larger global adoption of solid skincare which requires almost no packaging and certainly no single-use plastic as well as no water, then all brands would create and market these products rather than the cheaper to produce water-based products in throwaway plastic packaging. This could save the planet 36 million litres of water and 120 billion units of plastic packaging waste each year.
Is there anything else that you would like to share with us about your project?
We are working hard to develop new botanical extracts to expand our range on top of the Rooibos & Rose and Kigelia extracts we have already launched. We are also working on a completely solid skincare range with a solid serum and cleanser to be released in 2022.
