More about Karry’s Deli / Vegan Butchers and Deli Ltd

Welcome to South Wales’ very first all plant-based deli located in the heart of Vale of Glamorgan in Wales' biggest town, Barry.

Whether you’re just starting out your journey to explore and reduce animal produce in your diet like meats, dairy, etc, whether you're vegetarian or a fully-fledged vegan there’s something for everyone or all ages and stages of the experience at Karry’s Deli.

Plant-based or Veganism is for literally EVERYONE no matter your previous diet, or your intentions to start - no-one is judging you, it's up to YOU what you eat and whether you like it... or dislike... that's the beauty and interesting thing about food it's soooo personal and what someone likes, someone else hates... I personally know some vegans who hate mushrooms (go figure! I love them!). I'm here to support you and make eating "that weird vegan stuff" fun and enjoyable. ;)

Opening the store on Park Crescent on the 1st week of August 2021 to browse around the deli and ask questions or ask for suggestions we also offer Click-n-Collect service. Just take a browse through the site, order and then come and collect your goodies whilst paying in-store on collection either by card or cash.

Thank you from the bottom of our souls for supporting a small local team on the ‘high street’ shopping area of Park Crescent with such a new concept in a new emerging market; not only will you be helping the community, your choice will help your health, the environment and your pocket for long-term health benefits.

We look forward to seeing you at the store on Park Crescent, Barry and remember, change starts with one thing at a time, just try one thing, you never know... you might not like it... you might LOVE it!

Due to demand and the current economic climate as from 6th June 2022 I've decided to open the shop 7 days a week. As you can imagine, as a 1-woman business, with no team behind the scenes, this is a month trial to measure actual demand for every single day (is it REALLY wanted?) as well as sustainability for my energy. Please have compassion, patience and be kind. We hope that you understand and hope to see you soon. 🌱

Parking outside the deli can be a little tricky to park dead-opposite…. But fret not!
If you’ve come by car (try to come by foot if you live close-by 👣) take a little time to look at the location as it shows the side streets ONE-WAY DIRECTION (like a 🐍; one-up, one-down) which although are primarily for residents, it’s NOT RESIDENT ONLY it’s allowed to park for Park Crescent shopping too!
🚶‍♀️ With only a short (max 4-min) walk to the deli don’t let parking the car be an obstacle for coming to visit!

What was the motivation behind your project? What did you want to change in the world?

I wanted to open an all-plant-based delicatessen in my hometown to serve it and the surrounding areas with products not found in the supermarket but rather mostly produced by independent small companies and artisans. I also wanted to open on the high street to help with the movement 'keep the high street alive' and to help make the town a beacon for innovative businesses and services, attracting people to come and visit Barry.

Who is the team behind your project?

Only myself!

What one thing about your project would most surprise us?

I do all aspects of the business bar the accounts currently!

What would you wish for if your project could be granted one wish?

To have a wider local audience.

Is there anything else you would like to share about your project?

Please take a look at my website to get an idea of my business, where its location is and the products I sell.
