More about The Wheat Meat
The Wheat Meat operates from Leamington Spa in Warwickshire.
Our recipe has been specially developed by a vegan family living in the middle of England. After thousands of taste tests and a significant increase in demand from vegans and non-vegans, The Wheat Meat's Seitan went on sale across the UK in 2021.
The word seitan is of Japanese origin and was coined in 1961 by George Ohsawa, to refer to a product created by his student Kiyoshi Mokutani. In 1962, wheat gluten was sold as seitan in Japan by Marushima Shoyu K.K. and made its way across the world as an animal-free high-protein food.
