More about Vervet Monkey Foundation

The Vervet Monkey Foundation is a leading and internationally accredited primate rescue and rehabilitation organisation dedicated to the welfare of vervet monkeys in South Africa. With a focus on ethical and sustainable practices, we provide a safe haven for abused, orphaned, and injured monkeys, offering them a chance at a better life.

Our dedicated team of experts provides specialized care, including veterinary and a holistic treatment approach, socialisation and enrichment activities to promote physical and mental well-being. Through our rehabilitation programs, we aim to prepare these monkeys for eventual release back into the wild or troop at the sanctuary, whenever possible.

In addition to rescue and rehabilitation, we are committed to long-term conservation efforts. We work closely with local communities, advocating for the protection of vervet monkeys and their natural habitats. Our educational initiatives raise awareness about the importance of primate welfare, fostering a sense of compassion and respect towards these remarkable creatures with the aim to create a more positive perception of them and in turn reduce human-wildlife conflict.

Join us in our mission to make a lasting impact on primate welfare at a fully vegan sanctuary and ensure a brighter future for vervet monkeys. Together, we can create a world where these intelligent and charismatic animals can thrive in harmony with humans and nature.
